What's the point of Jack!

After England's opening game victory against an average europeon side in Switzerland, like myself
many pundits and supporters were perplexed at the decision made, by England manager Roy Hodgson to play Jack Wilshere in the holding role, of a midfield diamond, what a waste of attacking talent! Jack's ability to run and dribble, should make him a certainty to start in an attacking position. How many player's are there out there with the dribbling ability that Jack posesses?
Even playing Stirling at the top of the diamond is a no no for me, it's easier for any team to close spaces down in central area's, Stirling found himself most of the game, back to goal, receiving the ball, playing simple passes back again! Look at the world cup and how difficult it was for Messi, to make any impact in the game, from central area's in the final third. Stirling would be far better attacking from wide area's, using his skill and pace, getting behind the opposition. Having him, Jack and Oxlade-Chamberlain running beyond Rooney, who's football brain is second to none, these four player's in my opinion are a cut above the rest, purely for their intelligence shown on a football pitch. And while I am still on my soap box, Tom Huddlestone would be a perfect option for the holding role, if that is the system Roy is favouring!

Remember Roy, Sir Alf Ramsey picked players best suitable for the team,

Alan Hanson - Player to Pundit

After watching the profile of Alan Hanson - Player to Pundit on BBC TV recently, it evoked a wonderful childhood memory of mine.
My first top flight football game, a trip to Carrow Road to watch Norwich V Liverpool.

The memory is still vivid, in my mind! Liverpool won 5-3
To see a 66 World Cup winner in Martin Peters, Justin Fashanu's wonder strike! (voted Goal of the Season, that year) and David Fairclough, living up to his mantle as super sub! Yes, he came on and scored! But still the outstanding memory, was how Alan Hanson made the game look so easy! Pure class... his organising and reading of the game, stood out above everything else that happened that day.
Happy Retirement Alan Hanson, Soccer Legend! Not bad pundit either...
